Cookie Policy

This policy is currently under review by counsel. Final language may change.

What cookies are

Cookies are small text files that a website asks your browser to store on your device. They let a site remember things between page loads and between visits — like the fact that you're signed in, your language preference, or that you've already dismissed a banner. Most cookies are harmless and many are essential for a site to work at all.

How DataPure uses cookies

We use cookies for three purposes:

  1. To make the site work — essential cookies that handle sign-in, payment, and the preview gate.
  2. To remember your preferences — including the cookie choices you make on the banner described below.
  3. With your consent, to understand how visitors use the site — so we can improve it. We do not currently set any analytics cookies, but if we add them in the future we will ask for your consent first.

Your choices

The first time you visit the site you'll see a cookie banner where you can choose Accept all, Necessary only, or Customize. You can change your choice at any time by clicking “Cookie preferences” in the footer of any page, or by clearing the cookie_consentcookie in your browser — the banner will reappear on your next visit.

Necessary cookies cannot be turned off because the site won't work without them — you wouldn't be able to sign in, complete a payment, or pass the preview gate.

We do not currently use analytics or marketing cookies. If we add them in the future, we will update this page and ask for fresh consent before setting them.

Third-party cookies

When you go through Stripe Checkout to complete a payment, Stripe will set its own cookies on its own domain (checkout.stripe.com). These cookies are not set by DataPure and are governed by Stripe's cookie policy. They are necessary to complete payment.

Disabling cookies in your browser

Most browsers let you view, clear, and block cookies from their settings menu. Brief pointers:

  • Chrome: Settings → Privacy and security → Cookies and other site data.
  • Safari: Settings → Privacy → Manage Website Data.
  • Firefox: Settings → Privacy & Security → Cookies and Site Data.
  • Edge: Settings → Cookies and site permissions → Manage and delete cookies and site data.

Warning: blocking the necessary cookies listed above will break sign-in and payment on this site.

GDPR / UK PECR consent

Under the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the UK Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations (PECR), we obtain explicit, opt-in consent before setting any non-essential cookies. Necessary cookies do not require consent because they are strictly required to deliver the service you have requested — for example, keeping you signed in or processing a payment you have initiated.

Children

The DataPure service is not directed at children under 16, and we do not knowingly set cookies for users we know to be under 16. If you believe we have done so, please contact us and we will delete the data.

Changes to this policy

We will post any updates to this page and refresh the “Last updated” date at the top. If a change materially affects the cookies we set or the legal basis for setting them, we will surface it more prominently — for example, by re-showing the cookie banner.
